Billy Elliot The Musical's Lee Hall adapts Shakespeare in Love for the stage

Award–winning film Shakespeare in Love has been adapted for the stage by Lee Hall, and will première in the summer of 2014 at London's Noël Coward Theatre. The screenplay was written by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard.

The production will be directed by Declan Donellan and designed by Nick Ormerod and will feature a cast of over 26 actors and musicians.

The show's producer, Sonia Friedman, has said of the project, “Every now and then a story comes along that cries out to be staged. This is one such story.

"Shakespeare in Love bursts with life and is a moving and hilarious celebration of everything that we love about the inspirational and transformative power of theatre.

"This project has been several years in development and Tom Schumacher and I are thrilled to be confirming its world première in London.”

Preview performances start July. Priority booking opens shortly and public booking will open in February. For further information visit www.shakespeareinlove.com.
