This year sees the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.

To mark this event, Hamlet and All's Well That Ends Well will play in rep, opening at the Tobacco Factory Theatre, Bristol, and then tour nationally.

Hamlet will also play at the Craiova International Shakespeare Festival in Romania.

A cast of 15 actors will perform both plays, to be directed by Andrew Hilton, artistic director of the venue, who said of the season, "as an actor, I have played in Hamlet many times, but this will be my first production, fulfilling a lifelong ambition.

"All's Well That Ends Well will be a very different challenge but will make an excellent partner; it is a play brimming with the kind of ambiguity of tone that I relish, as well as offering terrific parts for women (to whom the play really belongs), and some fine comedy."

Later in the year, Hilton will also direct Brian Friel's Living Quarters.

  • Hamlet: 11 February to 26 March
  • All’s Well That Ends Well: 31 March to 23 April
  • Living Quarters: 17 September to 3 October

Hamlet and All's Well That Ends Well are co-productions between Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory and Tobacco Factory Theatres.
