On Saturday 19 July Something Happening For Kids, a whirlwind tour of dance for under 10s and their families, offers all sorts of dance activities at The Place: things to watch, things to do, places to relax, eat and drink.

In the theatre, The Bo Diddlers will perform their Morris dancing blend of physical comedy, traditional folk, contemporary dance, and live music show at 1PM and 3PM.

Turning Morris dancing on its head, this all-male troupe is made up of some of the country’s top contemporary dancers, who have variously performed with companies and choreographers including Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, London Contemporary Dance Theatre, and Protein.

There will also be a wide range of bookable and drop-in family activities happening throughout the building: the Windibops laboratory where you’ll be investigating flatulence, and a “sound hunt” for The Minotail’s missing voice in the nooks and crannies of St Pancras Church Crypt, or you can watch Brilliant, a film by Fevered Sleep that explores the secret games and the magical imaginings that happen when it’s time to go to sleep.

There are chances to get physical: to bounce on the inflatable set from Meeting Mr. Boom! or learn to dance the The Bo Diddlers way, sing and move with h2dance’s interactive choir in Say Something, or explore touch through a contact improvisation session with Rick Nodine and family, or become a secret agent and crack codes as part of Mission Dance.

Facilities include an outdoor picnic area, café and theatre bar, a free buggy park and baby changing facilities.
