South East Dance is offering an opportunity to be a part of an Audience Ambassador Scheme this autumn 2015.
Audience Ambassador schemes are designed to bring people together who have no background in contemporary dance, but who are curious to find out more. The next Ambassadors will get to meet Artistic Director Dan Daw, who recently received a BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellowship and premièred his latest work Beast last month in Sweden.
South East Dance is looking for people who are aged 18 to 35, love discussing ideas, are interested in aesthetics and body politics in the 21st century, have no experience of dance but are intrigued to find out more and would like to gain an insight into an artist’s thought process behind a new piece of work.
“I stand before you today as a man. I stand before you today as a gay man. I stand before you today as an Australian gay man. I stand before you today as an Australian gay disabled man. I stand before you today to say that all of those things led to my becoming a dancer.” Dan Daw
You will need to be available on the following dates in Brighton: Friday 30 October (6PM) for dinner in central Brighton with Artistic Director Dan Daw and fellow Audience Ambassadors; Tuesday 3 November (8PM) for performance of Dan Daw’s work Beast at Brighton Dome; Monday 9 November (daytime) for half-day Symposium looking at the 21st century aesthetics of the body, hosted by Dan Daw; Tuesday 10 November (6PM) for South East Dance discussion and feedback on their experience to Dan Daw.
For more information, e-mail [email protected]. The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 31 July 2015.
