Southwark Playhouse—Southwark Stayhouse

Southwark Playhouse has this week launched its online platform with three full-length productions.

Available for viewing on Southwark Stayhouse is:

  • 2018 rock musical Wasted, a camp take on the life of the Brontës with music by Christopher Ash and book and lyrics by Carl Miller, directed by Adam Lenson, movement director Natasha Harrison and musical director Joe Bunker. The cast is made up of Siobhan Athwal, Natasha J Barnes, Matthew Jacobs Morgan and Molly Lynch.
  • The Bard's Twelfth Night re-sited at a music festival directed by Anna Girvan, movement director Louise Kempton and composer and musical director Anna Clock. Becky Barry, Aruhan Galieva, Sapphire Joy, Caroline Parker, Liv Spencer and Luke Wilson make up the cast.
  • Bound, a production from the days when the venue was still located at London Bridge. The story follows the fortunes of six trawlermen from Devon as they embark on one final voyage. Jesse Briton directs Thomas Bennett, James Crocker, Joe Darke, Alan Devally, Daniel Foxsmith and John McKeever. The associate director (music and movement) is Joe Darke and the assistant director is Bryony Shanahan.

Alongside these is a set of three new monologues by Philip Ridley under the title, The Beast Will Rise. Each one is performed by a member of the cast of Ridley's The Beast of Blue Yonder that has been cancelled under lockdown rules. The trilogy is Gators performed by Rachel Bright, Zarabooshka performed by Grace Hogg-Robinson and Chihuahua performed by Charlie Quirke. The director is Wiebke Green.
