The 2023 Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize is open for submissions.
Local and international members of MMD are eligible to apply with up to two songs from a new musical or musicals from any genre of musical theatre.
George Stiles and Anthony Drewe are part of the judging panel which provides feedback to all finalists, with the winner receiving £1,000 for the development of their work. Also all songs that make it to the finals will be performed at a concert to take place in November at The Other Palace.
Entries must be solo songs from shows, and not standalone pieces, written by a paid up member of MMD (where the works are collaborative, at least one collaborator must be a paid-up member).
Applications should be comprised of an MP3 or MP4 audio demo file of each song, the lyric sheet for the song and a synopsis of the show and the context of the song. All the uploaded material should be anonymised. The full instructions are available online.
The closing date for submissions is 5 June at 23:59 and the finalists for Best New Song Prize will be announced in September.
