Tarek Iskander, currently interim director for theatre at Arts Council England, will take over from David Jubb as artistic director of South West London multi-space arts venue Battersea Arts Centre.

Artistic Directors of the Future, a programme established by Battersea Arts Centre and Bush Theatre to fast-track artistic achievers into theatre leadership and broaden representation, saw Iskander as artistic director of takeover event Up Next.

Iskander was one of the founders of the Yard Theatre where he also served as associate artistic director directing his own works Qudz and Shiver. Other credits include Minotaur and A Winter’s Tale. He has also been resident director at the National Theatre Studio.

Outgoing artistic director David Jubb said, "Tarek is a fantastic appointment for Battersea Arts Centre. He brings vision, warmth and a breadth of experience. He will lead positive change and take the organisation to a whole new level."
