The newly-announced programme for London's Barbican includes a celebration for the opening of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a major exhibition on Pop Art Design & The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier and dance and theatre events (and and offsite whilst rebuilding is taking place).

Theatre highlights include the RSC's transfer of Richard II with David Tennant in the title role and in dance artistic associate Michael Clark's offering Triple Bill.

Music comes from, amongst others, the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and the London Jazz Festival, with the newly opened Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Milton Court housing a number of concerts by Barbican Associates.

The Barbican's director of programming, Louise Jeffreys, said, “Creating an innovative arts programme that breaks down traditional borders between the art forms is central to our ambition.

"We are proud to offer great artists from across the world a place to present new ideas and push the boundaries of their practice.

"These new projects reflect the Barbican’s commitment to stage exhibitions and events that bring a contemporary perspective to some of the greatest art from the past, alongside the best from artists working today.”
