"What Makes a Great Play?" is the challenging topic for discussion by the panel of judges at the launch of this year's Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting.
Judges Dame Jenni Murray, David Eldridge, Marianne Elliot, Suranne Jones and Benedict Nightingale will be joined by award winning playwright Bola Agbaje and artistic director of the Royal Court Theatre Vicky Featherstone for this public event to be held at the Barbican on 30 January, the eve of the opening for entries.
The Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting, sponsored by property company Bruntwood and partnered by the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, is the UK’s most significant playwriting prize discovering and promoting writing for theatre.
This year's competition opens on 31 January and closes on 3 June. The total prize fund is £40,000.
