Write Now 4 at The Jack Studio—Submissions invited for new writing festival

The Jack Studio has launched its new writing festival now in its fourth year by inviting submissions of new work from writers with a connection to south east London, where the theatre is based.

Like its predecessors, Write Now 4 aims to support emerging writing talent and, as well as the winning play being produced for a two-week run, there will be staged readings of two other works, writing workshops and two evenings of short plays during the month–long event.

Every submission will be read by a cross section of the selection panel which comprises The Jack's Artistic Director, Kate Bannister, Darren Batten, Resident Producer at the Jack and Director of Language Laid Bare, David Bottomley The Jack's Literary Manager and Director of the London Playwrights’ Collective (whose recent work was short listed for the 2012 Nick Darke Award), Jennifer Lunn, Associate Director and Artistic Director of Culturcated Theatre Company and Tanith Lindon, Associate Director, Theatre and Operations Manager, The Yard.

In addition to representatives of the theatre's artistic management, Lin Coghlan (Eastenders, Soho Theatre, National Theatre), Franko Figueiredo (StoneCrabs Theatre) and Simon James Collier (award winning producer of the Okai Collier Company) will participate in the final selection process.

Qualifying playwrights may submit previously unperformed plays that reflect contemporary culture or society. The deadline for submissions is Monday 4 February 2013.
