An open audition is to be held in London on 7 December to find vocalists for the principal roles in the show Godspell which will go on national tour next year in a new concert version.
A cast of ten will be supported by a live band, a small ensemble and a local choir in each venue.
In a nationwide search for existing choirs, the producers are looking for mixed-voice adult choirs to be tutored by musical director Russell Scott which, with four professional performers, will make up a choir of 32.
Godspell In Concert will be directed by Kenneth Avery-Clark; it will have choreography by Richard Marcel.
This re–working of 1970s show Godspell enjoyed a sell-out concert performance in London earlier this year. It features new orchestrations by Michael Holland and additional lyrics by Stephen Schwartz who composed the score.
