Annually, industry publication, The Stage, produces a list of the most influential people working in the UK performing arts industry, and for the last seven years Rosemary Squire and Howard Panter, joint chief executives of the Ambassador Theatre Group, have come out top.

This is a record-beating number of leads with Andrew Lloyd Webber having previously come top of the list for six years.

Lloyd Webber is at number four this year with Sonia Friedman and Cameron Mackintosh between him and the ATG heads.

New entrants include actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Bazalgette and Darren Henley from Arts Council England.

Imelda Staunton who was previously 70 on the list is now at 16 making her the highest riser.

Manchester Royal Exchange artistic director Sarah Frankcom moves into the top 20, whilst the National Theatre finds itself outside of the top ten for the first time with Rufus Norris at 12.

This year The Stage 100 was selected by a judging panel comprised of The Stage editors Alistair Smith and Matthew Hemley, associate editor Mark Shenton and reviews editor Natasha Tripney, from invited nominations received anonymously.

The Stage is available in print and online.
