The Mystery of Irma Vep runs from 11 December to 4 January

The Jack Studio Theatre presents The Mystery of Irma Vep: a penny dreadful as its Christmas entertainment.

Written by American playwright, actor and director, Charles Ludlam, the play concerns Egyptologist Lord Edgar and his new wife Lady Enid as they settle into the family home, but the shadow of Irma Vep, Lord Edgar’s first wife, hangs over them.

Vep is Ludlam's most popular and enduring play, a comic mystery featuring many of the hallmarks of The Ridiculous Theatrical Company, founded by Ludlam in New York in the late 1960s.

The Mystery of Irma Vep: a penny dreadful is directed by Kate Bannister, The Jack's artistic director.

The show runs from 11 December to 4 January (except 15,16, 23–27, 31 December and 1 January) and is suitable for age 12 and over.

In the meantime, Howard Goodall's Love Story continues until 16 November.
