HMS Pinafore on tour

Gilbert and Sullivan classic HMS Pinafore will grace the stage at The Hackney Empire from 14 February, before starting a tour that takes in Eastbourne, Nottingham, Croydon, Exeter, Buxton, Warwick, Guildford and Winchester.

This comes courtesy of the award-winning company behind all-male productions of The Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe and Patience.

Leading the cast is Keith Jack who achieved initial fame in BBC television's casting show Any Dream will Do; Jack then toured in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat playing The Narrator and subsequently re–joined the show in the lead role. His other credit includes high–profile concerts and tours.

West End hit Shrek The Musical is to tour the UK and Ireland from July.

Nigel Harman will direct a new company led by Dean Chisnall as the ogre Shrek with Faye Brookes as Princess Fiona.

Harman starred as Lord Farquaad in the original London production, a performance for which he won the Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical. This is his directorial début.

The show tours initially to Leeds , Bristol, Nottingham, Belfast, Dublin, Oxford, Manchester, Aberdeen, Canterbury, Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Norwich, Southampton, Plymouth and Milton Keynes.

Also for family audiences is Duckegg Theatre Company's Leave Hitler To Me, Lad.

This new musical is written and directed by award winning playwright Haley Cox and has music by Ben Pringle whose credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The show will tour small- to mid-scale theatres with a cast made up of four professional actors and six of the company's youth theatre members.

The story of Leave Hitler To Me, Lad is based on the real experiences of Haley Cox's father and his contemporaries at Great Stony residential school during and after World War II.

The tour runs from 6 February to 8 March taking in Cardiff, Tunbridge Wells, Runcorn, Southport, Leeds, Halifax, Nottingham, Gainsborough, Lincoln, Haverhill, Scunthorpe, Chorlton, Liverpool, Sale, Boston, Barnoldswick and Brigg.
