Opera North is to perform a concert staging of Puccini’s Turandot at The Sage in Gateshead for one night only this month.

The Orchestra of Opera North, conducted by Sir Richard Armstrong (replacing the previously announced Aleksandar Markovic), takes centre stage in this new concert staging. Turandot is directed by Annabel Arden, with set and costumes by Joanna Parker.

Tenor Rafael Rojas returns to Opera North to sing the role of Calaf and Irish soprano Orla Boylan sings Turandot, while Liù is sung by South Korean soprano Sunyoung Seo, who is making her Opera North and UK debut.

The production is at The Sage on Saturday 20 May at 7:30PM.
