Turning The Page: New writing conference held this weekend

Playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker – one of the speakers at Turning The Page: Creating New Writing

Turning The Page: Creating New Writing (1945 - 2013) is the third of three conferences in the Giving Voice to the Nation series, a five-year research project by the University of Reading and the Victoria and Albert Museum on the practice and policy of post-war British theatre.

The event takes place this weekend at the University of Reading and the participants include academics, practitioners, funders and policy-makers, amongst them Timberlake Wertenbaker, Roy Williams, David Edgar, Steven Atkinson, Fin Kennedy, Andy Smith and Simon Stephens.

The conference has a wide–ranging agenda which covers, amongst others, papers and discussion on new writing in relation to state subsidy of the arts, the importance of commissioning new writing, theatre for young people and dramaturgy and playwriting.
