Cross-cultural theatre company Tara Arts, founded in 1977, this year celebrates its 40th anniversary as well as the 70th anniversary of India and Pakistan's independence with a series of events across 2017.
Theatre highlights of the upcoming spring season include the première of Chigger Foot Boys by Patricia Cumper and She Called Me Mother starring Cathy Tyson and Chereen Buckley.
Artistic director Jatinder Verma said, "I am delighted some of the most exciting artists and entertainers in Britain today will present our first spring in the new Tara Theatre.
"From Nitin Sawhney to Inua Ellams, comic maestro Barry Cryer to new theatre companies Mandala and Strongback to fabulous dance from Natalia Hildner and the submlime poetry of Rumi, this Spring marks a fitting start to our 40th year. I look forward to welcoming audiences to evenings of delight and wonder at Tara."

Nightlight presented by Mandala Theatre Company
South African playwright Nadia Davids's new play finds two teenage asylum seekers considering their past and the futures whilst hiding in an abandoned factory to avoid deportation.

She Called Me Mother presented by Pitch Lake Productions with Tara Arts for Black Theatre Live
In this new play by Michelle Inniss, Evangeline is waiting to return home to Trinidad and for the daughter she let walk away a long time ago, but will she return and can she forgive.

Chiggerfoot Boys presented by Strongback Productions
Chiggerfoot Boys is based on true events in the lives of Jamaicans who fought in World War One. It is written by Patricia Cumper and is set in a bar near Kingston Harbour.

An Evening with an Immigrant
Award-winning poet and playwright Inua Ellams tells his story from being born to a Muslim father and a Christian mother in Nigeria, moving to first England aged 12 then Ireland, returning to London and starting work as a writer and graphic designer. Without a place to call home, his life has included avoiding fundamentalist Islam, performing at the National Theatre and drinking wine with the Queen.
Also in the programme are music, poetry, dance and comedy events.
