Justin Edwards and Daniel Boys will join Mel Giedroyc in the musical comedy The Opinion Makers at Derby Theatre in November.

Edwards, known through his TV roles in shows including The Thick of It, Skins and Harry and Paul, will play Fernsby.

West End regular Daniel Boys will take the roles of Penhall and Abramowitz in the musical, penned by Brian Mitchell and Joseph Nixon.

Boys appeared in Avenue Q in 2009 and Grease. He was also a contestant on Any Dream Will Do, the BBC’s search for a new Joseph for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s show.

Julie Atherton, David Mounfield, Benjamin Stratton and Stacey Ghent have already been announced as cast members.

Daniel Boys said, “I’m really looking forward to working on this show. It’s always great to be given new material and to create characters for the first time, so to be cast in The Opinion Makers is very exciting.”

Justin Edwards added, “I’m very much looking forward to getting back on stage.

“I’m especially excited to be working with Mel again as we made three series of a children’s sketch show together and she’s great fun to be around.”

The Opinion Makers is directed by Daniel Buckroyd, artistic director of Mercury Theatre, Colchester which is co-producing the show with Derby Theatre.

Buckroyd commented, “Justin and Daniel are two fantastic additions to the cast of this hilarious new production.

“We have a terrifically talented ensemble on the show and it’s wonderful to see them all bring the script to life with their own comedic touches.”

The Opinion Makers runs at Derby Theatre from Wednesday 13 November until Saturday 23 November.
