Headlining the summer season at London's Unicorn Theatre is a new production based on The Summer Book by Tove Jansson starring Sara Kestelman.

The show, directed by Douglas Rintoul, has been adapted from the novel by Jemma Kennedy from a translation by Thomas Teal.

The story concerns six-year-old Sophia who spends the summer with her grandmother on a remote island in Finland. This year is the centenary of the birth of the writer and illustrator, Tove Jansson, whose other work includes Moomins series of books for children.

Other work in the summer programme includes contemporary dance, the return of 1001 Nights and Unicorn production Not Now, Bernard by David McKee.

The schedule has events for audiences from age eighteen months to teenagers, and their families. Refer to the Unicorn Theatre web site for age suitability, the full details of the programme and for booking.
