Ascension

One of Manchester’s most successful fringe theatre companies, Vertigo, is back in November with the new drama/thriller Ascension at The Kings Arms.

The award winning and MTA nominated company has had a successful career on the fringe scene including hit plays Porno Chic, Last Dance, Watching Goldfish Suffocate, Rage, Mysterious Skin and M.

Ascension tells the story of gay couple Nathan and Richard who have an unconventional relationship. The two then begin a descent into chaos, sex and violence.

With Richard Allen (Porno Chic, Mysterious Skin, Watching Goldfish Suffocate and Last Dance) and newcomer to the fringe Ryan McMyler (Last Dance) taking on the lead roles, it also features an ensemble including Stuart Reeve (Last Dance), Celine Constantinides (part of the MTA nominated Watching Goldfish Suffocate), Paul Worrall and Benjamin Corry (Porno Chic) and, making his fringe debut, Sean Roberts.

Ascension is written and directed by award-winning Craig Hepworth in-house writer and director for Vertigo.

Porno Chic will also be returning to the region next year prior to opening in London. And the next original play from Vertigo, 12305 Fifth Helena Drive, will open next May and tells the story of the last few hours of Marilyn Monroe’s life.

Ascension is from the November 17-20 and 23-24. It contains nudity, graphic violence, sex and themes some may find disturbing.
