This spring, Woolwich Works will host a showcase of Ukrainian culture, the inaugural Vesna Fest!, 2–5 May, featuring contemporary Ukrainian artists and a programme of art, culture and conversation.
Highlights include traditional dances, poetry readings, painting workshops and craft drop-ins for families, and there will be potent Kyiv Mules for the adults. Festival-goers will be able to experience the sounds, tastes, and rhythms of Ukraine in an immersive and family-friendly setting.
There will be Ukrainian dance ensembles, folk musicians and interactive workshops as well as a craft market with traditional Ukrainian crafts, textiles and artisanal goods, as well as classic dishes such as borscht, varenyky (dumplings), and holubtsi (stuffed cabbage rolls).
Liat Rosenthal, Head of Creative Programming at Woolwich Works, said, “we are delighted to be able to collaborate with the local Ukrainian community, the Ukrainian Arts Hub and The University of Greenwich to host the first-ever Vesna Fest!. Woolwich Works is the perfect venue to capture the spirit of Ukrainian spring—a place where tradition meets contemporary creativity, and where people from all backgrounds can come together to champion the country's culture. This is a celebration of community, culture and resilience.”
