McGregor to lead National Youth Dance

Entering its tenth anniversary year, National Youth Dance Company, the company for young dancers run by Sadler’s Wells, has appointed as its next Guest Artistic Director British choreographer and director Wayne McGregor for 2022–23.

McGregor is a Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist and Artistic Director of Company Wayne McGregor, Resident Company at Sadler’s Wells, which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022.

NYDC has begun its search for the next intake of 30 young dancers aged 16–18 or up to the age of 24 for d/Deaf or disabled dancers through workshops across England in July and August to join the company who will work with McGregor to create the new commission from October 2022.

McGregor takes over from current Guest Artistic Director Alesandra Seutin, whose work created for NYDC, Quartier Paradis, premièred at Dance City in Newcastle on 16 April and which tours to six further venues across England this summer, closing at Sadler’s Wells on Saturday 3 September.
