In Stage 3 at Northern Stage on Wednesday, Playing Up returns, an evening of “short blasts of new theatre” from emerging writers, performed script-in-hand. It is followed on Thursday and Friday by The Letter Room previewing its 2015 Edinburgh Fringe production, Five Feet in Front: The Ballad of Little Johnnie Wylo.

On Friday, Alphabetti Theatre presents its regular Alphabetti Soup, a selection of new theatre, spoken word, comedy—and soup. This month’s selection includes a new ten-minute play, Get Carter, by Janet Plater.

PanicLab brings a double bill, Swan Lake 2: Dark Waters and Versus, to Dance City on Thursday.

Scamp Theatre presents Stick Man – Live on Stage! at 2PM on Sunday at The Maltings in Berwick.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company brings its production of Jane Eyre to Durham’s Gala Theatre on Wednesday.

Chapterhouse is also in Middlesbrough on Wednesday with its production of The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes in Stewart Park at 6:30PM, part of the Theatre in the Park series. Tickets from Middlesbrough Theatre.

The Summer Thriller Season continues at Darlington Civic from Tuesday to Saturday with Sherlock Holmes & the Ripper Murders. Then on Sunday at 11AM and 2:30PM, Half Moon and Full House Theatre present Big Red Bath for children aged 2 to 5.

One-woman show Eglantyne comes to the Georgian Theatre in Richmond on Friday.

From Monday to Saturday, the Agatha Christie Theatre Company revives And Then There Were None in Harrogate Theatre’s Main House.
