Word:Play/NWxSW - new writing company Box of Tricks puts six writers to the test

An inaugural nine stop tour of six new bite sized plays starts next week under Box of Tricks' initiative, Word:Play.

Adding an intriguing geographical dimension to a project that in previous years has played at London's Arcola Theatre and Theatre 503, six writers—three each from the north west and south west regions of England—have been set the challenge of writing a 15-minute play inspired by the word “division”.

An ensemble cast of four will tour the plays which are directed by Adam Quayle and Hannah Tyrrell-Pinder. Casting has not yet been announced for the plays which are:

  • This is Only a Test by Tom Wainwright (Bristol)
  • The Bears by Luke Barnes (Liverpool)
  • Exodus by Natalie McGrath (Devon)
  • The Globe in the Attic by Becky Prestwich (Manchester)
  • Nights with Dolly Henderson by Bea Roberts (Bristol)
  • Plastic Figurines by Ella Greenhill (Liverpool)

The tour which visits the North-West and South-West will play:

Word:Play/NWxSW is presented by Box of Tricks Theatre in association with Octagon Theatre Bolton and The Bike Shed Theatre. For further information visit www.boxoftrickstheatre.co.uk.
