For my "best of" selection this year, I'm just going to give a list of my top productions rather than separate it into categories like some of my colleagues. So my North West theatre highlights of this year, in no particular order, were:

My highlights for this year's Edinburgh Fringe and International Festivals this year were:

• The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk (Kneehigh)

• What I Learned from Johnny Bevan (Luke Wright)

• Room 29 (Jarvis Cocker and Chilli Gonzales)

• Odyssey (Theatre Ad Infinitum)

• Every Little Thing’s Gonna Be Alright (Mark Steel)
