Posh – tour starts 3 September
Olivier Award winning Laura Wade’s dark comedy Posh embarks on a timely tour.
Lucy Hughes directs a cast led by television's Outnumbered Tyger Drew-Honey making his stage début.
Also in the cast of fourteen are Ollie Appleby, Chris Born, Matthew Entwistle, Isobel Laidler, Jamie Littlewood, Peter McNeil O’Connor, Taylor Mee, Adam Mirsky, Ellie Nunn, George Prentice, Simon Rhodes, Joseph Tyler Todd, Jack Whittle and understudies Andy Owens and Louis Palmer.
This biting satire on the privileged elite with provocative political themes was first seen at London's Royal Court Theatre in 2010 transferring to the West End and then being made into a film under the title The Riot Club starring Max Irons, Sam Claflin and Tom Hollander.
Posh is presented by Joe Prentice Productions and visits Oxford Playhouse, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Rose Theatre Kingston and Theatr Clwyd Mold.
Trying It On – tour starts 3 September
David Edgar’s Trying It On looks back at the formative events of 1968 when the playwright was just 20 years old: the Paris student revolt, the assassination of Martin Luther King, Enoch Powell’s “rivers of blood” speech, and the ongoing war in Vietnam…
Using first-person interviews with political figures and activists of the time, this autobiographical one-man play is performed by Edgar, making his professional stage debut.
Trying It On is directed by Christopher Haydon and presented by China Plate.
The play visits Theatre Royal Bath, The North Wall Oxford, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, The Brewery Arts Centre Kendal, The Gulbenkian University of Kent, Warwick Arts Centre, Omnibus Theatre London, Tobacco Factory Bristol, Northcott Theatre Exeter and Derby Theatre.
Teechers – tour starts 3 September
Classic classroom comedy John Godber’s Teechers tours under the auspices of Guildford Fringe Theatre Company.
Seen earlier at Guildford Fringe, Elle Banstead-Salim and Sam Stay reprise their roles of Hobby and Salty with Dannie Harris who makes her professional début as Gail.
Harry Blumenau directs, with assistant director Charlotte Bateup.
It is produced by Nick Wyschna and Charlotte Bateup for Guildford Fringe Theatre Company and visits Churchill Theatre, Bromley and Swindon Arts Centre.
Beyond Therapy – tour starts 4 September
Christopher Durang’s hit Broadway comedy Beyond Therapy is to tour with Tracy Shaw and Matt Lapinskas in the principal roles.
Set in New York, it is a story of crossed wires concerning Prudence and Bruce whose therapists suggest they start dating.
Shaw, who plays Prudence, will be known to television viewers for Coronation Street and Mile High. Her stage credits include The Blue Room and Mum’s the Word.
Lapinskas will play the therapist, Stuart. He will be known to television viewers for EastEnders and as a finalist in Dancing on Ice. His stage credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Ben Hur.
Joining them are Sam Lupton, Mandy Holliday, Joe Douglass and Sam Bradshaw. They are directed by Susan Raasay.
Beyond Therapy is presented by Sam Bradshaw Productions.
It visits Gordon Craig Theatre Stevenage, Gladstone Theatre Liverpool, Lancaster Grand Theatre, Castleford Phoenix Theatre, The Albany Theatre Coventry, The Barn Theatre Cirencester, The Landmark Theatre Ilfracombe, Palace Theatre Paignton, Chequer Mead Theatre East Grinstead, The Lighthouse Theatre Kettering and The Muni Theatre Lancashire.
Frankenstein – tour starts 5 September
Eilidh Loan plays an eighteen-year-old Mary Shelley in Rona Munro’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 Gothic classic with Michael Moreland as the monster and Ben Castle-Gibb as the scientist Frankenstein.
Also in the cast are Thierry Mabonga, Sarah MacGillivray, Natali McCleary, and Greg Powrie.
The plays is directed by Patricia Benecke with movement direction by Jonnie Riordan and music by Simon Slater.
Frankenstein is presented by Selladoor Productions, Matthew Townshend Productions, Belgrade Theatre Coventry and Perth Theatre at Horsecross Arts.
It opens at Perth Theatre then visits Marlowe Theatre Canterbury, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Brighton Theatre Royal, King's Theatre Edinburgh, New Theatre Cardiff, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford, Liverpool Playhouse, Richmond Theatre, Theatre Royal Glasgow, Malvern Theatres, Derby Theatre, Theatr Clwyd Mold, His Majesty's Theatre Aberdeen, Lawrence Batley Theatre Huddersfield, Eden Court Inverness, Middleton Arena Manchester and Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
A Woman Of No Importance – tour starts 5 September
Recently seen in London's West End, Oscar Wilde's A Woman Of No Importance will now tour presented by Classic Spring.
In the cast are Emma Amos, Isla Blair, Liza Goddard, Roy Hudd, Katy Stephens, John Bett, Rachel Essex, Tom Jude, Georgia Landers, Mark Meadows, Meg Coombs, Tim Gibson, Will Kelly and Paul Rider.
A Woman Of No Importance is directed by Dominic Dromgoole and has music by Jason Carr.
The play will open at the Everyman Cheltenham and tour to Richmond Theatre, Theatre Royal Brighton, King’s Theatre Edinburgh, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Perth Theatre, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford and Theatre Royal Norwich.
