The autumn and Christmas season at New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich opens with new musical, Midsummer Songs, which has music by Ben Goddard and book and lyrics by Peter Rowe, a celebration of the power of song, friendship and survival, whilst in the studio Stowaway is the première of a New Wolsey commissioned show by Analogue.
Winner of the UK Theatre Award For Best Musical, the Sheffield Theatres production of This Is My Family by Calendar Girls writer Tim Firth plays the venue in November, and there is a new take on Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet which uses the Bard’s original text and incorporates contemporary street dance.
Imitating The Dog brings its adaptation of the Ernest Hemingway classic Farewell To Arms to the venue in November, preceded by Simon Reade’s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful in October.
For the young and young at heart there is Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland in an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic by V A Pearn. There is Storymaker: Little Story, The Tap Dancing Mermaid and Dogs Don't Do Ballet for three- and four-year-olds and Storymaker: Big Story for five- and six-year-olds.
For Christmas, the family treat will be Beauty And The Beast - The Rock 'N' Roll Pantomime.
