Barney Norris's new play Eventide opens next month at London's Arcola Theatre with cast comprising Hasan Dixon, James Doherty and Ellie Piercy.

Barney Norris won the Critics’ Circle and Off West End Most Promising Playwright Awards for Visitors directed by Alice Hamilton who also directs Eventide.

Norris’s first book was To Bodies Gone: The Theatre of Peter Gill and 2016 will see the publication of his first novel. He is the Martin Esslin Playwright in Residence at Keble College, Oxford.

Arcola Theatre’s artistic director Mehmet Ergen said, "I commissioned Barney to write this play after the huge success of Visitors at Arcola.

"Eventide is every bit as touching and enthralling, but funny and surprising too. We're delighted to be working with Up In Arms, and with a first-rate cast, to bring the play to life.

"After the première at Arcola, and befitting a story about the vitality of local communities, we'll be taking it right across the country."

Eventide is presented by Up in Arms and Arcola Theatre in association with The North Wall. It opens at London's Arcola Theatre on 23 September then tours to:
