Bolan musical rolling into Manchester

20th Century Boy

The life and music of glam rock legend Marc Bolan is the inspiration for new musical 20th Century Boy, which comes to the Opera House, Manchester next month.

West End and musical theatre star Warren Sollars will lead the cast as Bolan. He will be joined by Sue Jenkins and Luke Bailey.

The original production had successful runs at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich in September 2011 and the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry in September 2012.

This new production showcases 24 iconic hits including "Ride A White Swan", "I Love To Boogie", "Get It On" and the title song.

Sollars’s most recent stage credits includes Tim Rice’s new musical From Here To Eternity at the Shaftesbury Theatre, Mamma Mia at the Prince Of Wales Theatre, Our House at Birmingham Rep and UK Tour, Kiss Me Kate at Chichester Festival Theatre and The Old Vic, The Reduced Shakespeare Company’s All The Great Books in London and Dubai and Everybody Loves A Winner at the Manchester Royal Exchange.

Sue Jenkins is best known for her TV roles as Jackie Corkhill in Brookside and Gloria Todd in Coronation Street.

Luke Bailey is well known for playing comprehensive school pupil Marley Kelly in Waterloo Road and Sam Bateman in the long-running medical drama series Casualty.
