Carrie: The Musical was first seen in the UK in a 1988 production by the Royal Shakespeare Company, prior to transferring to Broadway, but the show has never been seen in the capital.

Come May, the musical about a seventeen-year-old misfit who wreaks vengeance on those who taunt her, arrives at London's Southwark Playhouse courtesy of producer Paul Taylor-Mills (who brought In The Heights and Bat Boy: The Musical to the same venue).

The creative team behind the musical—composer Michael Gore, lyricist Dean Pitchford and book writer Lawrence D Cohen—have revised the show since the RSC production and it is this re–imagined version that Gary Lloyd, director and choreographer of Thriller Live! will direct for The Large.

An Off-Broadway production of the updated show won Best Musical Revival and the cast recording débuted as the number one selling album of the week on Billboard’s Top Broadway chart in its first week of release.

Carrie: The Musical is based on the best–selling novel by Stephen King, also made into a film. It plays The Large at Southwark Playhouse from 1 to 30 May.
