The spring season of events at the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham is “bursting with compelling drama and spellbinding dance to help shake off those winter blues”.
The programme in the Theatre Royal starts with John McArdle as Danny in the Touring Consortium and York Theatre Royal production of Brassed Off from 4 until 8 March.
Matthew Bourne’s original interpretation of Swan Lake returns to Nottingham from 11 until 15 March. It’s followed by Opera North’s presentation of Verdi’s Macbeth, Puccini’s The Girl of the Golden West and From Paris With Love including works by Puccini, Brel and Piaf. They run from 18 until 22 March.
A new comedy direct from the West End, The Play That Goes Wrong, performed by Mischief Theatre Company, visits from 24 until 29 March before David Essex stars in Morris Panych’s thought-provoking comedy The Dishwashers, a Birmingham REP production, from 31 March until 5 April.
Birmingham Stage Company returns to Nottingham with another children’s story specially adapted for the stage, Tom’s Midnight Garden, from 8 until 12 April.
A new play by Owen Sheers, The Two Worlds of Charlie F, performed by serving and veteran soldiers, tours to the Theatre Royal from 14 until 19 April.
Frederick Knott’s darkly gripping thriller Dial M for Murder featuring Christopher Timothy is in Nottingham from 22 until 26 April before musician and actress Natalie Imbruglia appears in Alan Ayckbourn’s Things We Do For Love from 28 April until May 3.
Direct from London’s Sadler’s Wells, West Side Story returns to the city from 6 until 17 May.
The highlight of the season in the Royal Concert Hall is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats which returns for a two-week run, from Tuesday 15 until Saturday 26 April.
