The National Theatre’s production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will return to The Lowry in November.

Bunny Christie, the show’s designer, announced this when she picked up the award for Best Visiting Production at the Manchester Theatre Awards.

The acclaimed production will now complete its 31-venue tour of the UK and Ireland in Salford, where it will run from November 17 to 21.

On receiving the award, Bunny said: “it was an absolute pleasure to open the nationwide tour of Curious Incident at The Lowry. The staff and the support we had there was fantastic and the audience reaction to this story about a boy, his family, love, bravery and difference was incredible.”

Stockport-born playwright, Simon Stephens who adapted the book added: “I am thrilled the Manchester Theatre Awards has recognised Curious Incident in this way. It was particularly special for me that the play opened in the north west, where both Marianne Elliott and myself grew up—and fitting that the magnificent Lowry in Salford is where the show will complete its tour.”

The play continues its critically-acclaimed West End run at the Gielgud in London and at the Barrymore on Broadway, and is the winner of seven Olivier awards including Best New Play.
