Dex and Jessica lead Curve’s production of Grease

Dex Lee and Jessica Paul will play Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski in Leicester Curve’s Christmas 2016 production of the musical Grease.

Curve chief executive Chris Stafford and artistic director Nikolai Foster said in a joint statement, “we’re proud to present our new production of Grease. Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's musical is an electrifying celebration of the birth of cool and teenage culture.

“It provides a gripping snapshot of a country on the cusp of social change, all set to one of the greatest rock 'n' roll scores ever written. We couldn't be more thrilled with our super-cool, Grease cast and production team.”

Dex Lee plays Danny Zuko. His credits include Seaweed in the UK tour of Hairspray and Billy in Carrie the Musical at Southwark Playhouse in 2015.

Jessica Paul plays Sandy Dumbrowski. She was Kate Murphy in Titanic at the Charing Cross Theatre in 2016.

Shobna Gulati whose television credits include Sunita Alahan in Coronation Street and Anita in dinnerladies plays Miss Lynch. She was on the international tour of Mamma Mia! and played Bet in Derby Theatre’s 2014 production of John Godber’s April in Paris.

The rest of the cast features Keisha Atwell, Darren Bennett, Sophie Camble, Jonny Fines, Courtney George, Luke George, Patrick Harper, Abigayle Honeywill, Sophie Isaacs, Max Jorquera, Sinead Kenny, Nathanael Landskroner, Michael Lin, Martin McCarthy, Sam Murphy, Djalenga Scott, Justin Thomas and Natalie Woods.

Designer is Colin Richmond, Nick Winston is choreographer and Guy Hoare is lighting designer. Sarah Travis is the orchestrator and musical director is Neil MacDonald.

Grease runs at Curve from 26 November until 14 January. Press night will be Thursday 1 December.
