New English Ballet Theatre’s filmed production of Wayne Eagling’s Marie Rambert-inspired Remembrance, his first piece for NEBT, will première on YouTube on 15 October and will run until 15 December.

This narrative ballet is set in 1918 and was inspired by the romance between dancer and teacher Marie Rambert and the playwright Ashley Dukes, who met at a dinner party in 1917 when he was on leave and within four days they’d fallen in love. He was recalled to the front and, after seven months of correspondence, they married in 1918. The ballet is set to the Ode for St Cecilia’s Day by Handel.

The cast features Alessia Lugoboni as Marie Rambert and Alexander Nuttall as Ashley Dukes.

NEBT has appointed Florence Kollie Raja, who is to implement a sustainability policy for NEBT, to the company’s Advisory Board. Formerly a dancer with Ballet Black, Raja was founder of collaborative sustainability platform Ethical Era.
