Leicester’s Curve has revealed its in-house productions for the remainder of 2016 which comprise a contemporary spin on a classic, a new dance work and a musical for Christmas.

Chief executive Chris Stafford and artistic director Nikolai Foster said, “we’re thrilled to be co-producing The Importance of Being Earnest with Birmingham REP, marking the first co-production between our two theatres and the first time this classic play has been staged at Curve.

“Our co-production of Curve associate artist Akram Khan’s Until the Lions will take to our stage in October, demonstrating our commitment to producing the very best dance here in Leicester.

“We’re also excited to announce Grease as our Christmas musical. Alongside Grease and playing in our 300-seat theatre, we’ll welcome to Curve rising director Max Webster who’ll create a production of The Twits as part of the Dahl 100 celebrations.”

As with the 2015 production The Witches and Curve’s current musical Legally Blonde, The Twits will visit Hong Kong before its run at Curve.

Foster directs Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest which starts at Birmingham REP from 9 until 24 September and transfers to Curve’s Studio from 6 until 29 October.

Until the Lions, created by the Akram Khan Dance Company during a residency at Curve, is at the Leicester venue from 3 until 5 November.

At Christmas Foster will direct Grease, from 26 November until 14 January 2017. In the Studio David Wood’s adaptation of The Twits, a co-production with the Rose Theatre Kingston, runs from 10 December until 15 January.
