Three new plays downstairs at Hampstead for the autumn

New work is at the heart of the new programme for the 80-seat downstairs space at Hampstead, showcased to identify and develop plays which have the potential to transfer to the Theatre's bigger space or elsewhere.

Each of the season's three plays is by a writer new to the north London venue but other creatives return. Former Hampstead Artistic Director Michael Attenborough directs Deborah Bruce's dark comedy Godchild which stars Tracy-Ann Oberman who played the Main Stage in Old Money earlier in the year.

Anna Ledwich, who directed Donny’s Brain, turns her hand to The Empty Quarter by Alexandra Wood which looks at the challenges of living in a society you don’t understand and for Christmas sharp new comedy Fault Lines by Ali Taylor is directed by Lisa Spirling; Taylor and Spirling previously collaborated on his award–winning first play Cotton Wool (Theatre503). Lisa Spirling directed I Know How I Feel About Eve at Hampstead last year.
