Set in a South London hair salon called BE U Tiful, The Headwrap Diaries takes a journey from childhood to the present day in a story told through a blend of house, waacking and vogue fused with African and contemporary dance with a soundtrack of Afro house, folk, electronic dance music, jazz and Ghana gospel.
In Fagin's Twist, filmed at the British Council Showcase in Edinburgh 2017, Tony Adigun’s Avant Garde Dance flips expectations of five familiar Dickens characters as it imagines Fagin’s youth, driven by greed and ambition in the face of overwhelming poverty.
All screenings are framed by a short introduction from the artist and audiences will have the opportunity to donate to support The Place and the featured artists.
