A Bed of Shards is a new one-act play by Jane McNulty (Eastenders, Doctors, Our Lady of the Goldfinches) and directed by award-winning Ian Townsend (All the Bens), starring Cathy Breeze (Les Miserables, Coronation Street, Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit) and Tigga Goulding (Moving On, Coronation Street, Spike Island).
The tower block that has been their home for years is facing demolition, and a council bungalow awaits them.
But while Ronnie embraces the possibilities of a new beginning, her partner, the reclusive Button, fears the move will bring exposure and loss.
After the success of A Hairline Crack at JB Shorts 12 and the selection for Re:Play Festival 2015, McNulty realised there was more life in her outsiders, characters Ronnie and Button and embarked on writing a full length, one-act piece for them.
Produced by House of Orphans, it’s at The Lowry in Salford July 1 to 2 and at Oldham Library October 12-13.
