Ben Joyce, currently playing Frankie Valli in the West End production of Jersey Boys, came to the rescue and stepped in at short notice to take on the same role in the touring production at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre.
The Trafalgar Theatre had to cancel two performances because of positive COVID cases in the company. So Joyce was able to take over in Birmingham when the actor scheduled to play Valli could not appear “due to the effects of COVID and the specific physical and vocal demands of the role”.
Joyce is making his West End debut in the show after graduating from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in summer 2021.
Jersey Boys is booking until 1 May 2022 at the Trafalgar Theatre while the touring production continues until 1 April 2023.
