Sadler’s Wells has added choreographer Russell Maliphant and composer Vangelis’s The Thread to Digital Stage, its free online performance programme, as well as new dance workshops.

The Thread will be screened on Friday 17 April at 7:30PM Sadler’s Wells’ Facebook Premieres and then be available to watch on demand for a further seven days.

Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist Maliphant has collaborated with Vangelis to create a contemporary dance piece inspired by ancient mythology and set to electronic music, which received its world première at Sadler’s Wells in spring 2019.

The artistic conception is by Georgia Iliopoulou, lighting by Michael Hulls and costume design by London-based Greek fashion designer Mary Katrantzou.

The Sadler’s Wells workshop series for audiences to dance along to at home also continues with workshops for older adults from Wednesday 15 April, hosted by Po-Cheng Tsai, Artistic Director of B.Dance. Participants will learn a combination from one of his pieces for older dancers, Floating Flowers, recorded from his home in Taiwan. The workshop can be found online via the Sadler’s Wells Facebook and YouTube channels.

Ten family workshops for children aged 2–6 years are also available to dance along to at home, with themed activities including textures, shapes, sounds and colours and storytelling based on fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears on the Sadler’s Wells YouTube channel.

Further details, including all titles, dates and screening times, will be announced via Sadler’s Wells’ social media channels, and updated on the Sadler’s Wells web site.
