New Old Friends theatre company is to return to Lichfield Garrick for two shows including a three-week residency in the Garrick Studio at Christmas 2023.

Crimes on Centre Court is a whodunnit which starts with the death of Lord Knows, the chair of The Whombledun International Invitational Tennis Tournament. His son Hugh is suspicious but the police will not take the case, so he calls in private investigators Perry and Pink.

Emile Clarke, Kirsty Cox who played Belgian super-sleuth Artemis Arinae in New Old Friends’ Crimes on the Nile in 2019 and Ben Thornton have so far been cast in Crimes on Centre Court which will run in the Garrick’s main auditorium from Thursday 19 until Saturday 21 October.

Four actors will play countless roles in A Christmas Getaway which will be performed in the Studio from Friday 8 until Sunday 31 December.

Feargus Woods Dunlop, co-founder of New Old Friends, said, “we’re utterly over the moon to be returning to Lichfield Garrick. It’s a theatre very close to our hearts and the birthplace of the Crimes series.

“To be coming back with Crimes on Centre Court and seeing how far the company and the shows have grown is amazing. To top that off with another festive season in the studio with A Christmas Getaway is just magical.”

Daniel Buckroyd, the Garrick’s artistic director and chief executive, added, “New Old Friends have lit up the Garrick’s Studio over previous Christmases with sell-out shows such as Crimes on the Christmas Express and Crimes of the Christmas Pudding, so we’re delighted to be welcoming them back to Lichfield with their unique blend of madcap comedy.”
