The Octagon Theatre in Bolton has smashed box office records with three hit shows over a period of just one year following its recent success with the classic Lancashire play, Hobson’s Choice.

The hat-trick started in January 2013 when the popular schools text Of Mice and Men played to almost 12,000 people and became the best-selling non-festive show in the Octagon’s 45-year history.

This was quickly followed in September 2013 when An Inspector Calls by JB Priestly played to over 10,600 theatre-goers, and the Octagon’s most recent success, Hobson’s Choice by Harold Brighouse, has now taken second position playing to an audience of nearly 11,000 people.

The Octagon’s Chief Executive, Roddy Gauld, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the achievements over the past 12 months and the feedback we have had from all of our work has been fantastic.”
