Terry Johnson’s hit revival of Oh What A Lovely War will play a two-week run in January at Theatre Royal Stratford East before embarking on a national tour.

The satirical musical about World War I, first seen at the venue in 1963 under the directorship of Joan Littlewood, enjoyed public and critical success earlier this year when it was revived in commemoration of the start of the First World War.

Kerry Michael, Artistic Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East, said, “we’re delighted that, following a sell-out success earlier this year, Oh What A Lovely War will be returning to us before heading out on a national tour. It’s a hugely important show that everyone should see.”

Oh What A Lovely War opens at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 29 January and then tours; tickets are on public sale. Casting and tour venues are not yet announced.
