Renowned Shakespearean actor Michael Pennington—a four-time Olivier Award nominee—takes the title role in King Lear at the Opera House, Manchester, May 31 to June 4, in a new production that marks the first time the RSC regular has played the iconic role in the UK.
This new production is directed by Max Webster, Associate Director at the Old Vic, where he recently directed The Lorax. Other recent credits include Orlando at Manchester’s Royal Exchange.
Pennington has played numerous roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company in a career spanning more than 50 years, and was co-founder of the English Shakespeare Company.
