Philip Glass opera up for circus awards

Circus Days and Nights, a new opera by Philip Glass, librettist David Henry Hwang and circus director Tilde Björfors co-produced by Cirkus Cirkör and Malmö Opera, has been nominated for four awards at the International Circus Awards.

The opera is based on a collection of poems by American poet Robert Lax and premièred at Malmö Opera May 29, 2021.

The nominations are for Outstanding Digital Production, Outstanding Achievement in Dramaturgy, Outstanding Achievement in Design and Outstanding Production.

The new International Circus Awards celebrate achievements within the global circus community. Fifteen circus productions from twelve countries have been nominated in seven different categories and the winners will be presented on October 9.
