The Customs House in South Shields has announced its spring 2013 season which runs from January to April. Theatrical highlights are:
- The pantomime Dick Whittington finishes its run on 6th January
- Former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion reads a new set of poems on 8th February
- Townsend Productions presents The Ragged Trouser Philanthropists on 12th and 13th February
- On 15th February LipService performs its latest production, Inspector Norse
- Much Loved Productions brings Opera Romance to the theatre on 16th February
- Open Clasp’s latest production, The Space Between Us, plays on 7th March
- Helpless Heroes from SURFIS is for theatregoers over 18 on 25th March
- Icarus Theatre Collective presents Romeo and Juliet on 26th March
- Call Mr Robeson: A Life, With Songs is on 28th March
- Theatre of Moths presents Remember Jim on 5th and 6th April
- The Russian Cossacks arrive at the Customs House on 8th April
- The show with what could be the longest ever title – The Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Survival of (R)Evolutionary Theories in the Face of Scientific and Ecclesiastical Objections: Being a Musical Comedy about Charles Darwin (1809-1882) – plays in the Studio on 10th and 11th April
- London Classic Theatre Company presents The Importance of Being Earnest from 18th to 20th April
- Donizetti’s Don Pasquale will be performed for one night only on 24th April
