Indhu Rubasingham, only in her second year as artistic director of London's Tricycle Theatre, has made a significant array of announcements, together with the details of the autumn season.

Starting in September, the season opens with a new production of Colman Domingo’s award-winning play A Boy and His Soul which receives its UK première following a run in New York. A world première follows with Moira Buffini’s Handbagged.

Multi-award-winning Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti has another run at the Theatre prior to transferring to New York, and Kathy Burke directs a major revival of Mary J O’Malley’s Once a Catholic.

New to the cinema programme are NT Live screenings, and for Christmas a live screening of The Royal Opera House’s The Nutcracker. There is also a programme of classical music concerts.

Allocated seating is being introduced from the start of the new season, with no hikes in ticket prices and a new lower price ticket. Also new is the Tricycle Takeover festival where the relaunched Young Company, for 11- to 25-year-olds, will decide the programme and will present at least two new works.

Rubasingham also announced the appointment of Lolita Chakrabarti, Adrian Lester and Rosa Maggiora as Creative Associates and Harry Mackrill as the first Resident Assistant Director, and the Theatre's participation in the London Theatre Consortium Creative Employment Programme which provides two–year apprenticeships.
