VAULT Festival has swiftly made its mark on the London theatre scene.
A cross–genre festival covering theatre, comedy, music, dance and film events has grown again this year and will take place across three venues: the Vaults themselves plus nearby Network Theatre and Morley College.
VAULT Festival’s directors said, “VAULT 2017’s limit is beyond the skies and into the stars. We’ve crafted six weeks of entertainment for London; the artists you see here are the big names of tomorrow.
"VAULT finds inspiration in the future. That’s why we’ve made PROXIMA V, a carefully selected strand of sci-fi and space experiences designed to make you think about where we’re all headed and if we really are all in it together. We’d like to be, so beam down beneath the surface and be part of it with us.”
Curated by The Guild Of Misrule in association with The Immersive Ensemble, highlights include:
- The Great Gatsby, performed across multiple spaces
- Mars Actually from Superbolt, the team behind Jurassic Park
- Thought To Flesh, a spoken word, multimedia and movement work looking at motor neuron disease
- On The Crest of a Wave, an autobiographical work from Camilla Whitehill, a member of Bush Theatre’s Emerging Writer’s group
- A Hundred Different Words For Love, a storytelling piece with music and linguistic philosophy
- Fran & Leni, the story of The Rips: girls with guitars bored of playing nice
- Frontal Lobotomy, witty and surreal work from Jeu Jeu la Foille
Nick Hern Books will once again release an anthology of plays selected from the best new writing at the Festival. Plays from VAULT 2 will be published on 26 January.
There is also VAULT Comedy Festival, VAULT Film Festival, Opening and Closing parties, late night dancing, food and bars.
