The Sound of Music continues at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal until 12 September.

Open Clasp’s Edfringe success Key Change returns to Live Theatre on Friday and Saturday.

From Monday to Thursday, Holy Moly & the Crackers present If The River Was Whisky at Alphabetti Theatre, and on Sunday, A Quest to Stardom, a DIY improvised panel show, returns to the theatre.

From Tuesday until 19 September Jersey Boys returns to Sunderland Empire.

From Wednesday to Saturday, Catherine Cookson’s The Cinder Path is at the Customs House in South Shields. On Sunday at 8PM, the theatre will hold the Jackie Fielding Memorial Evening, an evening of performances brought together to remember her huge contribution to the world of theatre as a performer, director and friend.

UNISONG: Bang Goes the Musical (for ages 10+) is in the Henry Travers Studio at The Maltings in Berwick on Friday.

Durham’s Gala hosts A Night at the Opera with London Festival Opera on Thursday.

Grow Up Grandad continues at ARC Stockton until Saturday. On Wednesday, Displace Yourself Theatre presents Free to Stay and on Saturday at 11:30, 1:00 and 2:30, Tessa Bide presents Arnold's Big Adventure (for age 3+).
