The best in theatre, dance and opera can be enjoyed on the big screen at The Dukes in Lancaster.

Productions from the National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, English National Opera and even The Bolshoi will be shown as part of the increasingly popular satellite seasons.

This Sunday, April 19, sees a double bill of top class entertainment with a screening of Ivan The Terrible from The Bolshoi at 4PM followed by another chance to see Tom Stoppard’s new play The Hard Problem at 7PM.

Gemma Arterton stars as The Duchess Of Malfi (12A) in The Globe’s production which is screened on May 3. Another star performance is promised on May 14 when Ralph Fiennes takes the role of Jack Tanner in the National Theatre’s reinvention of George Bernard Shaw’s provocative classic Man And Superman.

An encore screening follows on May 21. A live broadcast of the English National Opera’s production of The Pirates of Penzance, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mike Leigh is screened on May 19.

Oscar-winning Chiewetel Ejifor stars in a startling production of Everyman with words by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy broadcast live from the National on July 16.

Looking further ahead to the autumn, The Dukes is already booking for Benedict Cumberbatch’s portrayal of Hamlet from the National on October 15.
